FAQ's

What is a Take Heart Mask made of?

Between two layers of cotton or cotton-blended fabric is a layer of spunbond polypropylene-which is the material most commonly used for mask filtration.  https://www.derekduck.com/page/90

Do I need to change out the filter in my mask?
Nope! The filter inside of your mask is sewn in. To get the longest life out of your filter be sure to hand wash and avoid putting your mask in the washer/dryer.

When should I wear a face mask?
The CDC 'recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.' - CDC

What is the best way to wear my mask?
"Wash your hands before putting on your face mask. Put it over your nose and mouth and secure it under your chin. Try to fit it snugly against the sides of your face. Make sure you can breathe easily. Don’t put the covering around your neck or up on your forehead. Don’t touch the face mask, and, if you do, wash your hands. Remove your mask by stretching the ear loops. Handle only by the ear loops or ties. Fold outside corners together" - CDC

Who should not wear a face mask?
"Children under age 2, or anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance." - CDC

Is my mask reusable?
Yes. Your Take Heart Masks are reusable because they are washable!

How do I wash my face mask?
It's easy! After each use, hand wash your Take Heart Mask in warm soapy water. Pat with a towel and hang to dry.  That's all there is to it

According to the CDC, "detergents, laundry soap, and even hand soap are strong enough to combat flu viruses". "People should keep at least two cloth face masks on hand, so they can wash used masks at least once a day." - House Beautiful

Can I put my mask in the washer/dryer?
We do not recommend putting your mask in the washer/dryer.  The washing machine may bend the nose wire bending out of shape.  The filtration layer is made of fine plastic filaments so the dryer may compromise its efficacy.
